This study provides an overview of diabetes mellitus, a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels. It explains the three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes, along with their causes and management approaches. The introduction also discusses the potential complications of diabetes, such as cardiovascular problems, kidney disease, nerve damage, eye problems, and foot complications. This research focus on the utilization of polyherbal combinations for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It presents Gymnema sylvestre, Momordica charantia, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Holarrhena antidysenterica, Cicer arietinum (chickpeas), and almond seeds as medicinal herbs known for their potential in managing diabetes. The active constituents and the mechanisms by which they exert their effects are thoroughly discussed for each herb. The study describes the materials employed, including the herbal extracts and solvents used. It elucidates the extraction method and preparation process of the polyherbal formulation by combining the herbal extracts and subsequently subjecting them to lyophilization. Furthermore, the tablet formulation is prepared using the wet granulation technique. Overall, this introduction provides a comprehensive overview of diabetes, its complications, and the potential use of polyherbal formulations for the treatment of type 2 diabetes
