SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL-4 AND NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY 2020: TOWARDS ACHIEVING QUALITY EDUCATION

Abstract

This paper explores the synergies between Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) and the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), both aimed at fostering quality education on a global and national scale, respectively. SDG 4, a part of the United Nations' broader sustainable development agenda, outlines a comprehensive framework for ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all by 2030. NEP 2020, India's visionary policy, aligns with the principles of SDG 4, reflecting a commitment to transformative reforms in the education sector. This paper delves into the key thematic areas where these two frameworks converge, including inclusive education, technology integration, lifelong learning, and global partnerships. It examines the ways in which NEP 2020 serves as a catalyst for realizing the aspirations of SDG 4 at the national level, highlighting the policy's emphasis on foundational literacy, vocational training, and the integration of technology for enhanced learning outcomes. Furthermore, the paper underscores the importance of collaboration, both globally and nationally, in achieving the common goal of quality education. By analyzing the collective impact of SDG 4 and NEP 2020, this paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the pathways toward realizing the shared vision of quality education for sustainable development.
