Title

ADSORPTION OF METHYLENE BLUE FROM AQUEOUS MEDIUM ON WOOD DUST.

Abstract

Abstract Dyes in wastewaters often create problems. However, the soil serves as an important filtering medium for scavenging coloured substances and other pollutants from industrial effluents and runoff waters. In the present work, adsorbents used were wood dusts to remove colour produced by methylene blue in aqueous medium as a model for adsornent-dye interaction system under laboratory conditions. The results have been well supported by fitting Freundlich adsorption isotherm fo interaction between wood dust and methylene blue. The adsorption data agreed well with Freundlich isotherm equations and the values of the Freundlich (n : 0.132 - 0.093, K : 15.73 – 12.81) coefficients pointed to a favourable adsorption process Keywords : Wood dust, Methylene blue, adsorption of basic dye, Freundlich isotherm.
