Mleingyi festival is one of the premier festivals of the Zeliang Naga tribe of Nagaland in India. Traditionally, it is a week-long festival celebrated to purify oneself and welcome the arrival of new farming season. Seeking god’s blessing for good health, luck and bountiful harvest from the farming are also important objective of the festival. The festival is also important in the community especially for those village girls who are supposed to get married during the current year in the village. In fact, it is a multi-event festival involving feast, merry-making, cultural dances, sports, etc. and so have vast significance. The objective of the paper is to highlight the events taken placed on each day starting from Day-1 to Day-5, and to bring out the significance of the festival.
