The Rule of Law is one of the most important principles used for administrative governance. It consists of several ideas like justice, liberty, equality, dignity, fairness, reasonableness, supremacy of law etc. It protects individuals from abuse of power, maladministration, corruption, nepotism discourtesy etc. The rule enhances social justice, human rights, public trust in government, and economic prosperity and enforces the law through investigation, critical thinking, and evaluating actions. The Constitution of India comprises the Rule of Law as one of the important tools for reliable and accountable governance. In present-day democracies around the world, several kinds of practices harming the transparency in governance and people’s liberties are at risk. This paper critically examines the potential of the Rule of Law used to control or govern the administration in India.
