Title

INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGY ON AGGRESSION AND PATIENCE AMONG ADOLESCENTS POST-PANDEMIC

Authors

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, nearly everywhere in the world, has made it difficult to carry on with daily activities by enforcing social isolation and, finally, a lockdown. This has led to an increase in usage of technology, particularly among adolescents. The resulting rise in screen time has had both positive and negative effects on their lives. This has brought unprecedented challenges to adolescents to experience more emotional instability and aggressive behaviour. In the present study, researchers investigated the relationship between technology, patience and aggressive behaviour. Total 250 adolescent participants were invited to complete the Buss Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) by Arnold H. Buss and Mark Perry, and the 3-Factor Patience Scale (3FPS) by Sarah A. Schnitker, with their demographic details also collected. The collected data were analysed using Correlation and F-Test by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that there is a significant positive correlation between technology, patience, and aggression and also there is a significant difference between patience and aggressive behaviour. Supported by previous research done by Pierpaolo Limone and Giusi Antonia Toto (2021), and Przybylski and Weinstein (2017), revealed that increased usage of technology has made people more impatient, by decreasing capacity for delayed gratification, which has contributed to the rise in adolescent aggression
