Title

Review Of Automatic Licence Plate Recognition System

Abstract

In Our day-to-day life, usage of vehicles is increasing rapidly. So the vehicle-related crimes, thefts, and violation of traffic rules are increasing. Automatic licence plate recognition system aims at extracting the licence plate from a vehicle and using it for various purposes. ALPR provides a solution in which the steps to run an efficient intelligent transport network might be taken. Owing to the rapid increase in vehicles it has become a requirement for traffic control management. This paper endeavours to develop an Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities, implemented in Python using the Anaconda IDE. The primary goal is to enable real-time licence plate detection and character recognition from video streams, complemented by timestamp integration and efficient data storage in Excel or CSV format. By combining cutting-edge computer vision techniques and deep learning algorithms, the system aims to enhance vehicle monitoring, security, and data management in diverse environmental conditions. It addresses critical challenges in modern transportation and security by offering rapid and accurate identification of vehicles, facilitating law enforcement efforts, and contributing to the prevention of unauthorised access.
