Title

PROPOSING A NOVEL REGRESSION MODEL FOR SOFTWARE EFFORT ESTIMATION UTILIZING USE CASE POINT SIZE METRICS

Abstract

If you want to plan and manage a software development project well, you need an accurate estimate of the effort involved. The inaccuracy of traditional approaches' projections frequently causes budget overruns and delivery delays. This research presents a new regression model that improves software effort estimation accuracy by using the Use Case Point (UCP) size measure. To overcome the shortcomings of previous methods, the model incorporates a whole suite of variables obtained via UCP analysis. Inputted with use case diagrams, the use case point model outputs the software size in use case points. The suggested effort equation accounts for the effects of project complexity and productivity in addition to the non-linear connection between software size and software effort. Our research indicates that more effective and dependable software development processes may be achieved by combining UCP size metrics with advanced regression algorithms to greatly enhance the accuracy of effort estimation.
