Title

Hybrid Post-Quantum Security Models for Quantum-Resilient IoT and Edge Computing in Next-Generation Networks

Abstract

IoT and edge computing infrastructures are integral components of next-generation communication networks, but their constrained resources pose challenges for the deployment of post-quantum cryptographic (PQC) schemes. This manuscript proposes a hybrid PQC security framework that combines classical cryptography with post-quantum algorithms to ensure strong protection against quantum attacks while maintaining computational efficiency. The research evaluates hash-based signatures, code-based schemes (McEliece), isogeny-based systems (SIKE), and lattice-based KEMs (Kyber, SABER) for integration into IoT, fog, and edge networks. A lightweight hybrid mode incorporating Kyber + ECDH and Dilithium + SHA-512 is designed and assessed. Experimental results show that hybrid PQC reduces overall handshake cost by 32% while maintaining quantum resistance. The framework ensures sustainable deployment across heterogeneous IoT-edge ecosystems.
