Environmental attitude of College Students of West Bengal – A Comparative Study based on Dwelling Area and Sex Bidisha Sasmal* & Dr. Mohua Chatterjee** ABSTRACT The present investigation attempted to assess the environmental attitude of the college students of West Bengal and to explore the differences among them in terms of the said construct, considering dwelling area and sex. Accordingly, 301 college students were selected from urban, sub urban and rural areas of West Bengal, following purposive sampling technique. A General information schedule and Environmental Attitude Scale by Milfont and Duckitt (2010) were administered. After data collection, suitable descriptive statistics and inferential statistics including Analysis of variance and t-test were used to test the hypotheses. The findings showed significant variations in the participants’ environmental attitudes in respect of their dwelling locations, sex and interaction between dwelling area and sex. Significant differences between urban and sub urban, sub urban and rural, urban and rural, and male and female college students in respect of their environmental attitude were also found.
