Oral dissolving films, which are designed to help patients who have trouble swallowing, have become an innovative drug delivery strategy. These films have the advantages of having a quick onset of action, ease of dosage, and enhanced bioavailability because they are designed to dissolve quickly in the oral cavity. Oral dissolving films, which come in a range of formulations, offer a viable alternative for patients with dysphagia, geriatric, and pediatric patients, as well as those who want quick pharmacological effects. The promise of oral dissolving film in personalized medicine and controlled drug release is highlighted in this review paper, which also examines the composition, preparation techniques, benefits, and future directions of oral dissolving film. These films are evaluated for thickness, folding durability, disintegration, and dissolving time. They are formulated using plasticized hydrocolloids with API taste-masking chemicals. The solvent casting process is the preferred method due to its great glossy look and consistency. In this review, formulation techniques, evaluation standards, packaging, and mouth-displacing film goods are summarized.
