This study analyzed the possibility of utilizing plastic wastes and shredded paper in making high quality hollow block, since raw materials for making hollow blocks are costly. Also solid waste reduction has been a great challenge at present. Utilizing solid wastes to make an eco-friendly building material leads to reduction in solid wastes. This work endeavoured to produce hollow block using plastics ranging from twenty-nine percent (29%) to thirty-nine percent (39%) by weight, six percentage (6%) shredded paper by weight and sand ranging from fifty-five percent (55%) to sixty-five percent (65%) by weight. Various tests such as compression test, water absorption test, efflorescence test, and hardness test were carried out to assess the efficacy of specimens. Thus, utilizing non-hazardous solid waste materials in making eco-friendly hollow blocks could be potential alternative as building material.
