Title

Outside 1857: Previous Actions of Individuality cutting-edge Bharat

Abstract

Events in 1857 did not mark the start of India's independence movement. For years, a mix of internal and external pressures had been fueling the desire for independence and self-governance. Indian society resisted the British attempts to impose their concepts of modernity and development, and the Long before the 1857 uprising, there was a sense of uneasiness with British rule. Both Muslims and Hindus had complaints against British authority, and this resistance was not restricted to just one group. Eventually, the idea of a distinct Muslim state was put forth as a means of resolving the disputes between the two groups.
