Title

PILOT STUDY ON EVALUATION OF TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION IN TEACHER TRAINING IN JAMSHEDPUR

Abstract

This pilot study evaluates the integration of technology in teacher training programs in Jamshedpur, aiming to assess its effectiveness, challenges, and impact on teaching practices. With the rapid digital transformation in education, this study explores the extent to which teacher trainees and faculty members are utilizing technological tools, and identifies barriers that hinder effective integration. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and classroom observations, to gather data from teacher trainees, faculty members, and administrative staff in three teacher training institutions. Findings reveal that while there is basic access to technology, the use of advanced digital tools remains limited. Faculty members expressed a need for more professional development to increase confidence in using technology, with many relying on traditional teaching methods. Teacher trainees, however, showed a positive attitude towards the use of technology but reported insufficient exposure to advanced digital tools. The study highlights several challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, resistance to change among some faculty members, and a lack of continuous training. The results suggest that while there is a potential for enhanced teaching and learning through technology, significant efforts are required to provide better support, infrastructure, and training to fully integrate technology into teacher education programs.
