This research paper examines the representation of female sexuality, autonomy, and empowerment in Isabel Allende’s select works, particularly The House of the Spirits, Eva Luna, Aphrodite, and My Invented Country. Through a feminist lens, it explores how Allende challenges patriarchal narratives that reduce women to objects of desire and instead reclaims the female body as a site of agency and resistance. The study draws comparative insights from feminist theorists such as Simone de Beauvoir, Judith Butler, Hélène Cixous, Luce Irigaray, and Gayle Rubin, as well as intertextual parallels with writers like Mahasweta Devi and Krishna Sobti. By juxtaposing autobiographical memoirs with fictional narratives, this paper argues that Allende crafts a discourse of liberation that foregrounds women’s desires, voices, and lived experiences within patriarchal structures.
