India's housing sector faces pressing challenges amid rapid urbanization, growing population, environmental degradation, expanding urban middle class with its increasing affluence which is driving a shift in consumer preferences. This research study analyses the significance of sustainable development strategies within this context, examining their impact on environmental performance, societal welfare, and real estate market dynamics. Through a comprehensive methodology framework integrating literature review, case studies, and data analysis, this research study offers nuanced insights into the evolving landscape of sustainable housing in India. By highlighting key challenges, identifying emerging trends, and discussing case examples and practices, this research study contributes to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable housing in India and offer recommendations for fostering ecologically resilient, socially inclusive and economically viable housing sector.
