Title

VALUE CONFLICT AND SELF CONCEPT OF SECONDARY WOMEN TEACHERS OF JHARKHAND

Abstract

This study explores the intricate relationship between value conflict and self-concept among secondary women teachers in Jharkhand. In a region marked by rich cultural heritage and evolving educational dynamics, women educators often find themselves navigating complex value systems that can lead to significant internal conflict. These value conflicts, arising from the clash between traditional societal expectations and modern professional demands, profoundly impact the self-concept of these teachers, influencing their professional efficacy and personal well-being.Through a comprehensive analysis, the study delves into the sources and nature of value conflicts faced by women teachers in Jharkhand, examining how cultural norms, gender roles, and societal expectations contribute to these challenges. It also investigates the development of self-concept among these educators, considering factors such as professional identity, social environment, and the role of education in shaping their self-perception. The interplay between value conflict and self-concept is critically analyzed, highlighting how unresolved conflicts can erode self-esteem and hinder professional growth, while a strong, positive self-concept can empower teachers to navigate these challenges effectively. Case studies provide real-world insights into the lived experiences of secondary women teachers, illustrating the personal and professional ramifications of these issues. The study concludes by offering strategies to address value conflict and enhance self-concept among women teachers, emphasizing the importance of professional development, institutional support, and community engagement. These recommendations aim to foster a more supportive and equitable environment for women educators in Jharkhand, ultimately contributing to their personal fulfillment and professional success. This research contributes to the broader discourse on gender, education, and identity, offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and scholars interested in the intersections of culture, gender, and education in India.
