Title

A Review of Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) Efficiency in Inorganic Crystals

Abstract

An extensively researched nonlinear optical technique referred to as second harmonic generation (SHG) exists when two photons of a similar frequency combine together to generate a new photon having a frequency twice that of the incident photons. Numerous applications, including as high-resolution microscopy, optical switching, laser frequency conversion, and telecommunications, rely on this phenomenon. The effectiveness of second harmonic generation in a material depends on various factors such as the material's nonlinear optical susceptibility, crystal symmetry, phase-matching conditions and temperature.
