Title

Engagement communautaire pour le développement local, défis et perceptives, cas du secteur de Beia, territoire de Pangi dans la province du Maniema

Abstract

The present study on Community Commitment for Local Development, conducted in the Beia sector, aims to show the level of community commitment in development actions in this sector. The data collection method is based on observations and interviews. Two hundred and fifty people made up the sample size for our entire study area. It was found that 167 people or 66.8% testify that the local community is not always involved in the strategy of viability of the projects and 62 people or 24,8% agree that the local community should be involved in this project sustainability strategy; 68% challenge the representation of the local community in decision-making bodies In terms of community involvement effectively as a full partner in project identification and planning, 54% of our respondents say no, 52.8% say this community is not involved; 79.6% of our sample say that the local community is not effectively involved in project management; On the community’s perception of responsibility for development actions, 56% believe that responsibility and success lie with the donors of an action, and less than 1% who said that responsibility and success are the responsibility of the local community; 89.2% of our respondents do not recognise whether the local community is effectively involved in the evaluation of projects and the formulation of recommendations.
