Crime fiction has always been an interesting read for the public. They settle for Justice and introspection of the society. Through this paper, I would aim to draw up issues of justice, crime narratives, how detective deals with the criminal and the issues of social marginalities. Gender has been an important issue in our society, this paper would also look through the women’s perspective of crime genre and its impact on society. This essay examines three novels of Christie’s Miss Marple series and two contemporary novels of Kalpana Swaminathan. From the post world-war to the recent time, an attempt has been made to see, how the crime genre has evolved throughout these years in different parts of the globe.
