Revisiting Tagore's Idea of Nationalism through Char Adhyay

Abstract
This research article aims at revisiting the Tagore's Idea of Nationalism through his one of the most controversial, intensively debated novels “Char Adhyay” which was published in 1934. The article investigates the political backdrop of novel to understand the evolutionary nationalism of Tagore and his ideological position during the later period of his life. The different characters of his novel, related to corresponding political backdrop of the period, shows the further evolution of Tagore’s idea of nationalism from his incipient nationalist position.
