HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS IN PEASANTRY

Abstract

Medical sociology brings sociological perspectives, theories, and methods to the study of health and medical practice. Medical Sociology is concerned with the social causes and consequences of health and illness. Health is a resource as well as physical capabilities the definition draws attention to the need for partnership among individuals and communities and to the important of protecting the integrity of the environment in the causes of promoting good health. A peasant society is composed of settled rural people, engaged for the most part in agriculture production, whose productive activities and culturally, distinct characteristics are influenced shaped or determined to significant extent by powerful outsides. A person who has owns or rents a small piece of land and grow Crops, keeps animals, etc. on it, especially one who has a low income, very little education and a low social position. This is usually used of someone who lived in the past or of someone in poor country. It is truism to peasant that health is a good that exists in limited quantities. Peasant folk medicine does not provide the Protection that scientific medicine give those who have access to it and malnutrition frequently aggravates conditions strumming from lack of sanitation, hygiene, and immunization. There are two objectives (1) To identify the sources of health and safety hazards in peasantry. (2) To explore the effect of peasants health due to occupational hazards. The data for present study will be collected from 100 respondents for the required fulfillment of information. The data will be collected by using interview schedule and observation method. The respondent would be selecting by using purposive sampling. The data will be analysis by statistical technique like classification, tabulation, coding etc. The research findings are majority farmers are affected by pesticides. The respondents told that pesticides affect on their eyes because they don’t wear glasses to protect their eyes.
