Flood as a natural calamity affects on society to a great extent and among which impact on occupations of the victims is an important one. It affects on occupations of the people by destruction of income generating sources such as agriculural land, business places, educational institutions, as well as other governmental and non-governmental offices etc. The present study was conducted at four villages of the Dhakuakhana Revenue Circle under the Lakhimpur Distrct of Assam, India which are most flood-prone areas of the state that are affected by the river Brahmaputra. The findings show that the cultivators, daily wage earners, the businessmen, the service holders under governmental and non-governmental sectors even the students etc. are greatly affected by flood which leads many of such people for occupational changes. However, many of them followed few of the new strategies in case of their occupations.
