In this paper simple microstrip lines are investigated for setting the limit of boundaries of side and top wall of the structure. Investigation also carried out for their dispersion characteristics using Galerkin Technique in Spectral Domain. Basis functions for the unknown strip current are chosen according to the geometry of the structure of the line. In the theoretical analysis, basis functions are transformed from space domain to spectral domain through Fourier transformation equations. The structure is analyzed for different values of dielectric constant of the substrate and study its effect on boundaries as well as on dispersion characteristics in the X-band. The investigation also gives the limit of the enclosure such that shielded structure behaves like open structure for those values of dielectric constant of the substrate.
