Title

Teacher Effectiveness of Promoted and Directly Recruited Government Secondary School Teachers in Uttarakhand: A Comparative Study

Abstract

Abstract-This research study aimed to compare teacher effectiveness of promoted and directly recruited government secondary school teachers in Uttarakhand. The data was collected from a total of 480 teachers in government secondary schools, with 120 being promoted internally and 360 being recruited directly. The researcher designed sampling method cautiously, using a stratified purposive approach to ensure representativeness. The researcher used standardized tool for teacher effectiveness developed by Kumar and Mutha for collecting the data. The data was analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and the application of the t- test. Results of the study revealed that (1) there was no significant difference in teacher effectiveness between male promoted and directly recruited government secondary school teachers. (2) there was no significant difference in teacher effectiveness between female promoted and directly recruited government secondary school teachers. (3) there was no significant difference in teacher effectiveness between rural promoted and directly recruited government secondary school teachers. (4) there was no significant difference in teacher effectiveness between urban promoted and directly recruited government secondary school teachers.
