Landslides in the Koyna River Basin pose a severe risk to infrastructure and communities. This research mainly focuses on the Koyna River basin, prone to frequent landslides due to its geological and topographical features. The main aim of this research is to study the index properties of soil from the landslide locations in the Koyna River basin. Field visits, geotechnical analysis, and ArcGIS will be used to explore soil attributes such as particle size distribution, Consistency limits, and shear test results. Soil samples from the eleven landslide locations were collected for the geotechnical analysis. Soil testing findings were compared to geological and topographic data to assist identify the elements that influence landslides. Thematic maps were prepared based on the results of soil testing. The results of the soil testing reveal that the soil is poorly graded sand with some amount of clay content. This research will help to understand the behaviour of soil, which results in more effective landslide risk assessment and management measures. Based on the soil characteristics the landslide mitigation measures will be provided.
