Title

A Review on Tungsten Carbide (WC) Based Advanced Composites: Properties and Their Applications

Abstract

Among various transition metal carbides, tungsten carbide (WC) is prominent due to its outstanding mechanical, thermal, physical, and properties. It has been observed that WC-based composites have a potential role in developing various hard-facing components for industrial applications. Other carbides like titanium carbide (TiC), boron carbide (B4C), and metallic phases like iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), and cobalt (Co) are to WC to prepare cemented carbides. The processing of WC-based materials takes a lot of work. Among the various methods, it has been observed that the arc plasma melt-cast method was found to be more effective for processing such carbides.
