Title

DETECTION OF LIVER CANCER USING IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUES

Abstract

The project “Detection of Liver Cancer using Image segmentation” is developed under the conditions to create an stepping stone towards detection and eradication of cancer ; Which is an surging problem In the present life style human society. This application is an intellect analyser developed in circumference of concepts such as Machine learning; Image classification and segmentation; Data classification etc. The application starts with an image from an MRI is a high quality imaging technique which produces the structure of human organ in more defined manner and useful for diagnosis of diseases and Biological Research ; followed by preprocessing the image as per application’s requirement and classifying the image where the image is segmented into numerous equivalent bits and addressing them with a certain value in machine language and Comparing the bit vales with an standard parameter and on further processing the bits with inappropriate values are highlighted indicating the presence of an external factor existing residing the test subject. The whole application is developed on the basis of Ostu's method which uses clustering based techniques ; in simple words it converts greyscale image into binary image It assumes the image contains two level of pixel(Bi-modal histogram).it calculates the optimum Threshold by seperating two clases.the result gives minimum combined spread. for segmentation Marker-Controlled Watershed Segmentation was used and it was observed that for a few images’ segmentation was done correctly, so our future works includes creating a GUI and enabling a single click feature extraction using wavelet transform, with the accuracy.
