Title

Unreachable Appetite: Exploring the Untouchable Relationship with Food

Abstract

For some, food is a means of livelihood, while for some it is life. Apart from being a means of livelihood, food also determines our standard of living. Food is an important way to reflect our culture and social status. Food determines the form and pattern of our life and the form and pattern of our life determines our food habits. In India, food is worshipped as Anna Devta and Goddess Annapurna. There are many references in our religious texts where food is not considered to be just a means to fill the stomach, but from time to time God has described food as a means of welfare of the entire human race.
