Title

Avifauna of Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary – A Changing Habitat

Abstract

Wetland birds are bird species that entirely depend on wetlands for a variety of activities such as foraging, nesting, loafing, and moulting. They are the essential component of wetland ecosystem as they occupy several trophic levels in the food web of wetland nutrient cycles. Wetland birds play an important role in changing environment and to interpret the ecology of the particular species that use these wetlands. Aquatic avian fauna studies are mainly concentrated on population, food and feeding, habitat selection, and other related subjects.
