Title

A STUDY TO ASSESS HYGIENE PRACTICE AMONG DIFFERENT ADULT AGE GROUP AT SELECTED COLLEGES IN BARASAT, NORTH 24 PARGANAS,KOLKATA”.

Abstract

Background:- In the era of this digitalization, where the newest technologies evolves the life style most, the essence of hygiene practice and the knowledge for the same became one of the most important pillar of the society. This topic will explore the different kind of hygiene practices, hygiene knowledge and its impact on health among the people from different adult age groups. Objectives:- To assess the level of hygiene practices of adult age groups To determine the association between socio-demographic variables with hygiene practice among different adult age group at selected colleges in Barasat. Design:- A Cross-sectional Research design Setting:- North 24 parganas, west Bengal, India. Method: A Descriptive study included 83 participants from adult age group in Barasat, North 24 parganas. A self-structured questionnaire has prepared to collect quantitative data on participants hygiene practices and it consists of socio demographic variables, for the association between demographic categorical variables with hygiene practices was analyzed using Chi-square test. For data validation investigator has used SPSS 20 version. Results: In this study included 83 participants of adult age group most of the participants were in the group of 19-25 years age group (49.4%). The respondents who above 29 years were least (15.66%). A total number of 61participants reported hygiene practice at moderate level while 16 members showed good practice and 6 participants reported hygiene practice at poor level in the Questionnaire of Hygiene practices.On the other side result showed the significance between Gender with hygiene practice. Conclusion:- The main conclusion drawn from this study is that, The participants with hygiene practices in their daily live activities at moderate level. In demographic variables like gender has significant association (p<0.05) with level of hygiene practices.
