MSMEs are vital to the growth of both developed and developing nations. These sectors are regarded as the foundation of the Indian economy. These businesses have become one of the economy's most dynamic and vibrant sectors. Currently, it represents more than 40% of all exports from the nation and close to 45% of the industrial sector's gross value of output. In order to support the States in their efforts to promote entrepreneurship, employment, and livelihood possibilities as well as to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in the context of a changing economic environment, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and its organisations must function well and flourish. Their overall contribution to India's population, output, exports, employment, and distribution throughout rural areas makes them essential. The article looks at the several issues impeding MSMEs' growth and the various government policy measures aimed at fostering their expansion. It also focused on the various government schemes, benefits of those schemes, Growth prospects of MSMEs, Opportunities and challenges available in MSME sector in India.
