Title

"In Nature Nothing Exists Alone"- an ecological trend in contemporary American Literature with reference to the writings of Rachel Carson.

Abstract

Ecological studies in Literature also known as Eco-Criticism, Green studies etc. is one of the youngest revisionist movements expanded by the early 1990’s, which has swept humanities over the past few decades. The present world is now facing eco disaster and our environment now is at stake. It is the study of the relationship between Literature and the Physical Environment. The study of Eco- criticism attempts to exert effect on its readers that would shift from ego-consciousness to eco-consciousness. The present Environmental crises are a bi-product of human culture. In the pursuit of sophisticated life, humans have become their own worst enemy by exploiting Nature. This paper attempts to create awareness with the help of some ecological writings of Rachel Carson as there an urgent need to reflect our anthropocentric attitude towards our Mother Nature. It is now everyday issue but we tend to be ignorant and continuously harm our own lives. Imagine a life without Nature, how can it be Possible? We humans have only one Earth to live and destroying Nature is destroying a peaceful existence. Eco-criticism thus attempts to create this awareness among men, suggesting sustainable development for a better future of the entire creation. It would help us learn how we may lead a happy peaceful life in close relation with the Nature. All the advancements and technologies would fail to create Nature if destroyed once. As such the popular message of this study is to keep our Mother Nature in her Pristine Beauty.
