Title

A REVIEW ON DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS AND ANALYSIS OF GATE VALVE

Abstract

A gate valve is a mechanical component used to control the flow of fluid or gas in a pipe system. The study examines the thermohydraulic performance of gate valves by analyzing Reynolds numbers, stresses, temperature distribution, loads causing deformation, and heat flow on the valve body. The design and analysis of the gate valve are conducted using the Finite Element Method and Acoustic signal analysis, utilizing DFA and MF-DFA methods, is used to detect water leaks and simulate leakage rates, showing that decreased leakage increases turbulence eddy frequency, enhancing energy dissipation. The research also aims to design a reliable gate valve with intelligent features to extend its lifespan and detect early failures, focusing on fluid flow and deformation to improve efficiency in oil and gas operations. The study compares Erosion rates of coated and uncoated gate valves in multiphase fluids and evaluates the reliability of deep-water manual gate valves in subsea production systems using a Markov method reliability model. Materials for improved hermetic elements are investigated using friction correlation, and computational fluid dynamics is applied to study water supply network gate valves. Additionally, the impact of cavitation damage on hydraulic performance and fluid flow in commercial gate valves is assessed using computational fluid dynamics various software tools like CATIA V5, SOLIDWORKS-2021, ANSYS.
