Title

COBOT in Construction Industry: Enhancement in Productivity, Safety and Speed – Review

Abstract

Buildings have advanced from primitive tools to modern equipment, with a growing trend towards Automation. Automation can improve construction efficiency, precision, and safety. The new advancement in the field of automation is Collaborative robots. A Collaborative robot is an advanced version of a robot having built-in sensors. It allows for a perfect blend of human perception and robot efficiency. Collaborative robots possess power, endurance, and precision that, when combined with human intellect and flexibility, can build workstations that are more productive, of higher quality, and have less ergonomic strain than normal manual workstations. Construction automation has a wide range of applications, from initial planning and design to facility construction, operation and maintenance, and the ultimate demolition and recycling of engineering structures. COBOT provides a higher degree of safety which makes it stand out among other construction equipment. COBOT is user-friendly, easy to modify, and operate, so is becoming very popular not only among larger firms but also among small and mid-size construction firms. Due to its ease of use, adaptability, and operation, COBOT is also growing in popularity with construction product manufacturing companies. Thus, in the construction industry, many machines can be used to reduce human effort, time, and overall labor costs and increase the productivity of the work. In India, where there is a scope for infrastructural development, the use of automation in construction should be increased.
