Non-performing Assets or NPA are those loans that does not payback any interest income to the bank. High amount of NPA increases the risk of loss of loan amount due to bad-debts. In this research, it will be analysed whether changes in NPA have any significant impact on profitability of the banks or not. For this research, data of 49 Indian Banks listed in NIFTY500 has been considered as the sample. The time period selected for the given sample is past 10-years from 2014 to 2023. The data analysis techniques used include correlation and panel data regression. The findings of this research shows that there is no significant impact of GDP, CAR and size of the bank (Log Total Assets) on the profitability of banks. However, significant impact of NPA on the profitability of banks have been found. The value of coefficient for both ROE and ROA are negative
