Title

Impact of Technical Trainings of APART on the Skill and Knowledge Enhancement of Farmers in Golaghat, Assam, India

Abstract

Programs for modern agricultural techniques that train farmers are crucial for developing their knowledge and skills. To gauge the effects of these initiatives, impact evaluations are carried out. This study looks at how farmers' technological knowledge and skill has changed as a result of technical trainings imparted by the "Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART)” in Golaghat district, Assam, India.. For the study, 400 farmer trainees were chosen who received technical trainings on the recommended package of practices of Rice, Mustard, Tomato, Ginger, Potato and Pumpkin. To compare the levels of technological knowledge and skill before and after the trainings, nonparametric testing (Wilcoxon sign rank test) were used. The results of the Wilcoxon sign rank test showed that farmers' technological understanding is impacted by their training. Most of the responders concurred that the program had been beneficial and improved their farming knowledge and skills. The farmers' positive performance level can be obviously attributed to the training they received, which not only helped them enhance their individual capabilities like knowledge and skill, but also, and maybe more importantly, to boost their morale and motivation. This study offers proof that government-sponsored agriculture training programs ought to be maintained in the future
