A nonlinear mathematical model to study the effect of vertical behavior on the spread of HIV/AIDS in a population with variable size structure is proposed and analyzed .In writing the model we have divided the population under consideration into four subclasses i.e. susceptible, infective, pre-AIDS and that of AIDS patients. The model exhibits two non-negative equilibria namely, the disease free E0(Q0/d,0,0,0) and the endemic equilibrium E*(N*,I*,P*,A*).It is shown that the endemic equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable and is globally asymptotically stable under certain condition showing that the disease becomes endemic. The effect of various parameters on the spread of the disease has also been discussed.
