Title

EFL Learners' Perceptions Towards the Role of Technology in EFL Classes at Helmand University

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the EFL students’ perception toward the role and use technology and technological tools in EFL classes, Department of English, Helmand province, Afghanistan. In this research, the quantitative research method was employed, and the data was collected from 110 students through an adopted questionnaire. In addition, the respondents were selected through random sample. Similarly, the questionnaire was the main instrument of this study. Additionally, the data was analyzed by implementing Excel program and found out the frequency and percentage of the items as well reported in tables and figures. Moreover, the findings of this research reveal that learners have positive perceptions and views about technology and its advantageous use in English language learning process. According to respondents, technology provides access to various resources and tools that can make learning more interesting, engaging, efficient, and enjoyable. The findings revealed that while most students recognize the potential of technology to facilitate language learning, certain barriers such as limited access to devices, inadequate training, and internet connectivity issues hinder its full utilization. This study highlights the need for strategic improvements in technological infrastructure and pedagogical approaches to maximize the impact of technology in EFL education at Helmand University. The finding of the research will help EFL teachers and students to utilize technology in effective language learning and teaching.
