Title

Gender Pay Gap: A Critical Study of Disparity

Abstract

Women have historically fought for their fundamental human rights over numerous centuries, a reality reinforced by historical evidence. The injustices endured by countless women in the past may never be fully rectified by present-day advancements towards equality and progress, as lost time and opportunities cannot be reclaimed. While feminism has made significant inroads globally, persistent issues remain unresolved. One such pressing concern is the gender pay gap, continuing to persist across various professions. Despite the enactment of the Equal Remuneration Act by the Indian government in 1976, nearly five decades later, disparities in pay for equivalent work between male and female employees exist in many Indian workplaces. Although some industries and companies prioritize pay parity, disparities endure in numerous sectors. This systemic failure not only undermines women who play vital roles in society but also deprives them of recognition for their intellectual capabilities. The gender pay gap, akin to entrenched sexist attitudes and patriarchal norms, remains a stark reality in the contemporary world, coexisting with unequal opportunities and biased monopolies.
