Title

Design, Synthesis, characterization and antibacterial evaluation of novel trifluoro methyl Schiff base metal complexes

Abstract

Abstract: A novel approach for the synthesis binary complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) and Co(II) were synthesized using novel trifluoro substituted Schiff bases. The characterization of these metal complexes were carried out by physical parameters and spectral methods like elemental analysis, Mass, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-Vis, IR, TGA and ESR measurements. From the analytical data, square planar geometry has been proposed for all the metal complexes. Biological evaluation of synthesized compounds have been studied for antimicrobial activity against specific bacterial strains like 1) Escherichia coli 2)Staphylococcus aureusand found that the metal complexes showed more potent biocidal activity than the Schiff bases.
