This study investigates the impact of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in the BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Applying statistical methods, including the Augmented Dickey-Fuller and Phillips-Perron tests, the analysis confirms that both FDI inflows and GDP are non-stationary at levels but stationary at first differences. Employing a simple linear regression model, the results indicate a significant positive relationship between GDP and FDI inflows, with GDP being a crucial determinant of foreign investment in these emerging economies. Diagnostic tests affirm the model robustness, revealing no issues of heteroskedasticity, autocorrelation, or specification errors. The study concludes that GDP plays a vital role in shaping FDI strategies and underscores its significance for economic policy formulation in the BRICS countries.
