Title

Review article on Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis Chois)

Abstract

Shankhpushi, one of the magical herbs, mentioned as Medhya Rasayana by ancient Acharyas. Traditionally it is used to treat various disorders like insomnia, fatigue and to enhance the memory power etc. The Charaka Samhita, which is an ancient book of Ayurveda described the use of paste (Kalka) as Medhya Rasayana. The review aims to examine scientific research related to Shankhpushpi, focusing on its botanical features, chemical constituents, pharmacological effects and both preclinical and clinical uses. By analysing various sources of Shankhpushpi, this review seeks to provide insights into its diverse effects based on different plant species.
