Almost all SAP ERP Customers use custom tables one way or another to maintain critical data (e.g., custom exchange rate, or some form of conversion rate etc.) which is used for calculating values while posting GL financial data by an ABAP program or calculate values in a report at runtime. However, anyone with access can edit or update data in the table which can cause calculation errors in the programs or during reporting that uses that value from that custom table. SAP authorization is key to safeguarding sensitive financial data, and this white paper provides detailed instructions on how to assign authorization to the custom table which can help administrators and security-focused SAP professionals to ensure that all user information is captured for any change done to the sensitive data in the table thus reinforcing data security and compliance. It addresses these issues and discusses in details the steps related to the custom table maintenance and security authorization (i.e., Security logging for any addition or updates made to the data in the ERP table).
