Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine from India that emphasize a holistic approach to health. Application of herbal drug externally known as lepa. Lepa preparations are the topical medicine meant for external application to the skin or mucosal membrane. Charak Samhita is the most important Ayurvedic classic. According to Acharya charak, Patradi lepa is the last lepa also known as ‘sharira durgandhihara lepa’ and introduced as pradeha as a type of lepa Kalpana, described in chapter 3 of charak sutrasthan named ‘Aragwadhiya adhyaya’ and contains 5 drugs. The mechanism of action of herbs mentioned in Patradi lepa are Balancing Hygiene and contribute to unpleasant body odor. These medicines or these formulation of medicine used externally. Pharmacological properties of these herbs shows Detoxifying properties effective in managing and preventing body odor through a holistic approach, aligning with the principles of Ayurveda. This abstract outlines the Ayurvedic approach to treating body odor through natural formulations, highlighting their benefits and potential for modern application.
