Title

Strategies Employed in Contemporary Education and the IK system for Fostering Critical Thinking Skills and Evaluate their Effectiveness

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of contemporary educational strategies and Indigenous Knowledge (IK) systems in fostering critical thinking skills among Class 11 students. With a sample of 77 students, the research employs a quantitative approach using surveys to assess students’ perceptions of how these teaching methods enhance their critical thinking abilities. The study examines various factors, including gender, age, and cultural background, to understand their impact on the learning outcomes. Initial findings suggest that both contemporary strategies and the integration of Indigenous Knowledge contribute positively to developing critical thinking skills. Students reported that collaborative learning, real-world problem-solving tasks, and the inclusion of cultural perspectives significantly enhance their analytical skills. Statistical analyses, including ANOVA, were conducted to determine if differences in critical thinking skills exist based on age and gender. The results indicate no significant differences, suggesting that both male and female students benefit equally from these educational methods. This research highlights the importance of diverse educational strategies in promoting critical thinking and calls for educators to incorporate Indigenous Knowledge alongside contemporary methods to create a more inclusive learning environment. Overall, the study aims to contribute to the ongoing discussion about effective teaching practices and the need for educational reform that values both modern and traditional knowledge systems.
