Abstract

Newspaper and digital media are key drivers in the dissemination of social knowledge. Since a significant portion of the population relies on media for information and current events, media reports can shape public opinion and impact criminal case outcomes. Specifically, how child sexual abuse is portrayed in the media can affect legal responses to these cases on multiple levels. This study examines various portrayals of child sexual abuse in the media and their potential influence on whether victims report assaults to the police or legal authorities. The study emphasizes the importance of media not only providing objective reports on individual child sexual abuse cases but also accurately conveying research findings on such cases.
