Title

Analysis of Drainage System in Saran District :A Geographical Study

Abstract

There is very close relationship between environmental factors and agricultural characteristics not only in the study area but in the entire Indo-Gangetic plain. Saran district is a part of middle Ganga plain lying between the Gandak river and the Ganga river, the life line of North India. The middle Ganga plain is almost homogeneously flat and devoid of morphological features. Hence the region exhibits dendritic pattern of rivers. Hydrolic regime, drainage density and textures and drainability all these components of drainage system reveal that the region has tremendous reservoir both of surface flow and underground pool of water.
