Title

Polyacrylamide Assisted Hydrothermal Synthesis of Silver Nanowires

Abstract

Silver nanowires are synthesized by using as Silver Nitrate (SN) as source of silver (Ag) and Polyacrylamide (PAM) as template to grow silver nanowires as well as reducing agent by releasing ammonia (NH3) during the hydrothermal process. The hydrothermal temperature (TH) used here is low and no complicated process and/or any complex instruments are necessary. The silver nanowires are characterized by using XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis., TGA, FESEM and TEM. XRD spectra shows a prominent and sharp peaks of FCC silver. FTIR and TGA analysis indicates presence of trace amount of silver adhered on the silver nanowires. TEM spectroscopy shows as grown nanowires are pure and highly crystalline. Simplicity of synthesis process, minimal use of nontoxic chemicals are the main advantages of the present process.
