Ayurveda, as a holistic healing system, draws from various philosophical traditions, particularly Darshana Shastra, which informs its distinctive principles. Among these, the Saankhya Darshana concept of Satkaaryavaada—the idea that effects inherently exist within their causes—finds unique application within Ayurveda. Originally describing the universe’s evolution, Satkaaryavaada in Ayurveda sheds light on the intricate relationship between cause and effect in health. This perspective is essential for understanding how Ayurveda views health and disease, emphasizing the significance of underlying factors or imbalances as the root causes of illnesses. In this context, Ayurvedic practices, including dietary and lifestyle adjustments or therapies like Panchakarma, aim to address these root imbalances, promoting wellness by acting on pre-existing potentials. This paper explores the adaptation of Satkaaryavaada in Ayurveda, underscoring its role in illustrating the cause-effect dynamics that govern both disease progression and holistic healing processes within Ayurvedic practice.
